Slow Ride Vintage Bike

ROLE: Bicycle Enthusiast

I customized this bike—a 1982 Trek 600 Touring Bike—that I had acquired from a friend in a trade. It was already a bit of a "frankenbike" by the time I got it, having been modified for cyclocross racing by a prior owner. I can't take credit for the Cook Bros. Racing cranks. But I fitted it with the mustache bars, the Brooks leather saddle and bar tape, and the white Vittorio Rubino tires. It was all so I could attach a front-mounted child seat and take my first born out for rides.

That's where I came up with the idea for "Slow Ride". The finishing touch was designing a head badge and, getting it fabricated in aluminum, and applying it to the steel frame with 3M automotive adhesive.
